Bu film Kore’deki ilk sekiz jüri üyesinin verdiği karara ilişkin gerçek olaya dayanmaktadır. Medyanın tüm dikkati Kore hukuk tarihinde ilk kez gerçekleşen jürili duruşmadadır. Rastgele seçilen sekiz vatandaş, bir annenin katledildiği ve neredeyse hiç şüpheye yer bırakmayan kanıtlarla desteklenen bir davaya hüküm vermek üzere çağrılır. Hakim sekiz jürinin oy birliğiyle ‘’Suçlu’’ kararına varmasını beklerken, fazlasıyla tutkulu olan bu jüri üyeleri daha önce asla mahkemede sorulmamış sorular sorarak davayı tersine çevirir.
