Fransa’nın en saygın yönetmenlerinden Bertrand Tavernier, 2009’da İstanbul Film Festivali’nde gösterilen Sislerin İçinden’in ardından bu 'romantik gerilimle' yine kostümlü dönem filmlerine dönüş yapıyor. Prens savaşa gidince Marie’yi eğitmesi için Protestan Chabannes’a emanet eder ama o da genç kadına âşık olur, tıpkı tahtın varisi Anjou Dükü gibi. İşte savaş budur: Aşk uğruna, vatan uğruna!
